Back Street Heroes is the UK’s biggest-selling and best custom bike magazine. We cover all styles of custom bikes and the custom biker lifestyle.
Editorial • HELLO, AND WELCOME TO THE NEW ISSUE OF BSH… HMM, I’M SURE I’VE WRITTEN THAT BEFORE, HAVEN’T I? MUST BE ME AGE, I’M REPEATING MESELF.
PUNTA COURCHEVEL • IN THIS ‘ERE COUNTRY OF OURS (AND I’M SPEAKING ‘ERE ABOUT BRITAIN AS A WHOLE, NOT JUST ENGLAND), WE DON’T REALLY HAVE MOUNTAINSIDE MOTORCYCLE EVENTS IN THE SAME WAY AS THEY DO OVER IN EUROPE, MOSTLY BECAUSE… WELL, WE DON’T REALLY HAVE MOUNTAINS, DO WE?
THE POWER COSMIC • DOONY, AND HER OTHER HALF ‘FLAKEY’ DAVE ADDIS, WERE ON THE BSH STAND AT MOTORCYCLE LIVE IN 2022 DEMONSTRATING THE QUALITY OF THEIR RESPECTIVE ARTWORKS, AND IT WAS THERE THAT SHE MENTIONED SHE’D NEARLY FINISHED REDOING HER 750 GIXER CHOP. THIS, LADIES N’ GENTLEMEN, IS SAID CHOP, AND ISN’T IT A STUNNER?
THE 101 RUN • A SOMEWHAT UNKNOWN EVENT OUTSIDE THE VINTAGE CHOPPER SCENE, THE 101 RUN'S ORGANISED BY A GUY NAMED SCOTT WALKER (NO, NOT THE '60S POP STAR), AND HELD AT THE DREAMLAND MARGATE AMUSEMENT PARK IN MARGATE ON THE SOUT COAST.
FOR WALLY… • I DON’T KNOW IF YOU REMEMBER WALLY WALTON FROM OVER CLACTON, ESSEX, WAY? HE WAS A FEATURE OF THE EAST ANGLIAN BIKER SCENE, AND FURTHER AFIELD, TOO, WITH HIS ARMY SURPLUS STALL AT RALLIES, AND HE OPENED AND RAN THE FOSSILS BIKER CAFÉ IN CLACTON, AND HIS POLISHED ALLOY TANK GSX-R CUSTOM ‘FIGHTER WAS IN BSH. HE PASSED AWAY IN DECEMBER 2015, AND IS DEEPLY MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM.
HDRCGB INTERNATIONAL RALLY • WHEN THE NUMBER OF RALLYGOERS OUTNUMBERS THE NUMBER OF LOCAL RESIDENTS, ONE MIGHT EXPECT RATHER ANNOYED LETTERS TO THE LOCAL PARISH COUNCIL, OR WORSE, BUT THE WEEKEND OF THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON RIDERS CLUB OF GREAT BRITAIN’S INTERNATIONAL RALLY SAW AN ALMOST CARNIVAL ATMOSPHERE DESCEND ON THE PEACEFUL, HISTORIC VILLAGE OF NASEBY IN NORTHAMPTONSHIRE.
PATINA SUBLIME • AS IT SAYS SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THIS ISSUE, ON ONE OF THE PAGES BETWEEN 38 AND 41 ACTUALLY, THE FIRST TIME I SAW THIS BIKE, THIS BIKE ‘ERE, WAS AT THE NCC BEDS’ CUSTOM SHOW BACK IN JULY LAST YEAR WHERE IT WAS, THAT DAY, BY FAR THE STAND-ALONE BIKE OF THE DAY.
NCC BEDS’ BACK TO BASICS • ON THE SECOND DAY OF JU-LY, NCC BEDS THEY GAVE TO ME*; THEIR BACK TO BASICS BIKE SHOW, AT THE WHITE HORSE, IN HUS-BORNE CRAW-LEY
UNWANTED MCC CUSTOM SHOW • SO WHAT D’YOU DO AT THE BEGINNING OF JUNE WHEN ALL YOUR MATES’VE BUGGERED OFF TO WATCH BIKES ON THE ISLAND? EASY – YOU HAVE A FOUR-DAY BIKE SHOW OF YOUR VERY OWN TO KEEP EVERYONE ENTERTAINED.
BLACK HOLE BLUE SEA SUN • SCOTLAND, AS ANY FULE NOSE, IS FREEZING, ISN’T IT? ABSOLUTELY FECKIN’ FREEZING – COLDER THAN A WHOLE COVEN OF WITCHES’ TI… ER… YOU KNOW, BREASTY DUMPLINGS; SO CHILLY POLAR BEARS’D BE MUGGING IAN WRIGHT FOR HIS ENORMOUS COAT; COLD ENOUGH, EVEN, THAT PEOPLE FROM NEWCASTLE’D THINK ABOUT (ONLY THINK ABOUT, MIND) PUTTING JUMPERS ON.

CALEDONIA DUO • ON MY BRIEF, ALMOST WHISTLESTOP, TOUR AROUND, MAINLY, THE LOWER RIGHT-HAND BIT OF SCOTLAND BACK IN SEPTEMBER (WHICH WAS S’POSED TO BE A FEW DAYS OF ‘OLIDAY, ALTHOUGH IT DIDN’T WORK OUT AS SUCH), AFTER PHOTOGRAPHING MATT AND MIKE FROM CHOPPER CLUB SCOTLAND’S BIKES (ISSUES 477 AND THIS ISSUE RESPECTIVELY), I ALSO PAID A FLYING VISIT TO JAMIE OF CCS TO SEE HIS BRACE OF NO-NONSENSE HARLEYS.
BARFLYS BIKERS’ SWEET 16 RALLY • WHAT A SWEET LITTLE RALLY THIS EVENT TURNED OUT TO BE – WARM SUNSHINE, LOVELY RIVER VIEWS, A WELCOMING PUB AND MUSIC MARQUEE, ALL WITHIN CRAWLING DISTANCE OF YOUR TENT.
THE BOOT BIKE SHOW • NOT THAT FAR, IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS, FROM WHERE MY GOOD LADY LIVES, IN A SMALL VILLAGE IN HERTFORDSHIRE CALLED DANE END, THERE’S A TRADITIONAL OLD PUB CALLED THE BOOT WHICH, A YEAR OR SO AGO, STARTED TO DO BIKE...
