Sage and sky blue • Soft and stylish, this pleasing pairing is everywhere right now, and we just love it…

now & next • THE 10 NEW THINGS WE THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT

3 tablescape trends for spring • It’s easy to see why tablescapes are everywhere at the moment – they’re such a fun way to make a meal feel special. If you have an Easter gathering on the agenda, it doesn’t have to be all bunnies and bunting – though, of course, we love them too. Whether it’s an elegant afternoon tea, lunch with the whole family or an evening soirée with friends, why not set a fabulous table and make it an occasion to remember…

Pretty traditional • Embrace the beauty of spring with a pastel palette of soft pinks and fresh greens and sprinkle delicate blooms across the table. Use mismatched crockery and glassware for an eclectic, vintage vibe.

Sunny rustic • No colour says spring quite as joyfully as yellow, so layer in lots of lemon and honey, ochre and mustard to liven up a classic neutral scheme. Add texture with table linen, jute and wooden accessories to keep it all looking handcrafted, tactile and fun.

Grown-up luxe • Dramatic inky blue and rich burgundy add a touch of day-to-night glamour and team beautifully with jewel-toned accents, velvet trimmings and the glimmer of warm gold finishes.

CREATIVE ways with PAINT • Adding colour is the most transformative thing you can do in a room. At the stroke (well, many strokes) of a brush a space can be transformed from cool to cosy, understated to statement, winter to spring… And it’s not just about the walls – think ceilings, fireplaces, alcoves and dados. There’s barely a surface that can’t be livened up with a hit of colour – the possibilities are endless

Six ways to PERFECT PAINTING • Ready to give your home a colour update? It’s all in the prep, says Ruth Mottershead, creative director at Little Greene, who shares her top tips on how to get started

HOW TO MAKE PATTERN WORK IN YOUR HOME • Plain walls not doing it for you any longer? Then pattern is the way to go and there’s no need to hold back – after all, if you’re going to the effort of a refresh, it makes sense to opt for something that will really make a difference…

Seating for small spaces • From snugglers and corner sofas to clever foldaway beds and footstools, there’s a cosy, inviting seat for even the most compact of homes

MODERN MOROCCAN • Ornate pattern and rich detail are still very much in evidence, but now teamed with white walls, smart monochrome finishes and lots of luscious greenery. It’s a look beautifully brought to life at Tangier’s Villa Mabrouka. Once the sanctuary of Yves Saint Laurent, it’s been restored as an enchanting hotel by Jasper Conran, so take inspiration from its mix of exotic lines and pared-back simplicity…

How to transform a dull conservatory into a joyful living space • If you’re wondering what to do with a lacklustre room and budgets are tight, go all out with colour – it has the power to really lift the spirits, says our columnist Sophie Robinson

FINISHING TOUCHES • Emulate Sophie’s sunny look with these colourful picks
