Heritage Commercials

Magazine

Heritage Commercials magazine is Britain’s brightest full colour magazine for classic and vintage commercial vehicle enthusiasts. It celebrates the days when roads were still quiet and lorry driving was fun as well as hard work. But Heritage Commercials is not just about old drivers – its strong historical content looks at the various vehicle manufacturers, while it keeps up to date with the current preservation scene with stories of beautifully restored vehicles of a bygone age, and their owners, being featured. The magazine also regularly features light commercials – vans to you and me – buses and coaches, fire engines and military vehicles, as well as keeping in touch with the ever growing number of superb long distance road runs and events held throughout the year. This is living history on the move!

This issue we celebrate ‘Jersey Joe’s’ 90th

The Morris Commercial in a Community Care Role • Inspired by brothers, Ray and Kenny Walsh’s restoration of the late Alan Lingard’s Morris Commercial LC5 in last month’s magazine, Mike and Julie Blenkinsop find some archival images of one of the Morris Commercial LC range’s most valued roles.

Holiday Horsebox • Mike and Julie Blenkinsop report on another vintage Bedford, restored for a second life as a holiday home in France and its owners who have become small screen stars in Channel 4s ‘Help, we bought a village’.

NEC Practical Classics Car & Restoration Show 2024

JERSEY JOE’S SURPRISE POST 90th BIRTHDAY LORRY GATHERING • I received a phone call several months ago from Mark Wilkes inviting me to a surprise lorry gathering to celebrate Harry Brierley’s – AKA Jersey Joe – 90th birthday. Harry turned 90 on 31 December/New Year’s Eve, so this would be a post birthday celebration.

Point and shoot! • Digital cameras were rare at the start of the noughties, but by the end of the decade small point and shoot digital cameras were cheap, easy to carry and gave adequate results. That opened up the options for truck photography for many… including Pip Dunn.

An icon that never fades • Scania’s V8 engine was designed to meet the need for more power in Scandinavia where loads were twice as much as in the UK. But the canny Swedes didn’t keep it to themselves, and it was sold worldwide. And 55 years on since it appeared, it’s still the most aspirational truck going, writes Pip Dunn.
