EDITOR’S LETTER

OBJECTS • OBJECTS reflect the feeling inside us. Forever holding the story of why they were made, they serve us as tangible reminders of the life we hope for. Something we should never give up on…

OBJECTS

Diena Georgetti • Elusive. Instinctive. Incantatory.

COVETED • Greatly desired or envied. It’s the feeling we have when we look inside the world of interior designer TAMSIN JOHNSON. Here she hand picks some of her most coveted items for Home.

CURATED • IN THE DETAILS collects a compendium of curated objects; pieces that bring together our spaces with stories of craftsmanship, heritage, innovation and artistry. They are reminders that no element of the home is too small to be left unconsidered.

A seat three-quarters-full at the table.

Taking shape.

The lamp with the lion’s paws.

The Living Room, The Church.

The importance of disruption.

No pressure, good food and good company.

PEOPLE • GEORGE BYRNE had been set on being a rockstar since he was 12. At 13 his Great Aunt gave him the money to buy a Fender Stratocaster, which he left on a bus, so he had to settle for being an artist.

PEOPLE • NANCY CONSTANDELIA is deeply connected to Greece. She dreams of hosting an artist residency on Folegandros, and eating stuffed squid and handmade ravioli overlooking the ocean.

PEOPLE • KATE FOWLER, co-founder of Sutram, thought cotton had fallen out of favour a little, but she loves sleeping on it. So much so, she built a business around it.

PEOPLE • Painter PAUL DAVIES loves routine and structure. His last meal would be steak frites at a restaurant in L.A., where he used to live.

PEOPLE • Working with sheet and cast metals in the production of abstract composite sculpture, AUGUSTA VINALL RICHARDSON believes her “tools have personalities”, is honest to a fault, and always has pickles in her fridge.

PEOPLE • THEA ANAMARA PERKINS (aka Spooky) likes to do things her own way. She believes being present is the best gift you can give someone and says her Grandmother, Hetty Perkins, is her hero.

PEOPLE • JARED WEBB never sleeps in on Saturdays. He’s been drawing floor plans since he was 11 years old, but if he wasn’t an architect and a designer, he thinks he’d open a small jaffle shop.

PEOPLE • Rikina means ‘it’s deadly’ or ‘it’s awesome’ in Pitjantjatjara. It’s the word VINCENT NAMATJIRA uses to describe himself. As the first Aboriginal artist to win the Archibald Prize, he often says his paintbrush is his weapon.

Embracing the spillages of life.

PRIVATE PRESS • BOOKS. Meandering down the aisles at bookstores, spending an afternoon reading at home, discovering a world of horizon-expanding gems – it’s one of life’s great pleasures. We asked a few of our favourite creative minds to select one book that spoke to the idea of ‘limitless design’. Here are their recommendations.

TASTE • Food brings us together. It is a way we relate to each other and nourish ourselves. This can come in the form of the making of the dish, the serving, the devouring, and the company we enjoy it with. Our friends EMICA PENKLIS, VALENTINE FODOR, JACKSON BOXER, HESHAM EL MASRY, JAMES HENRY and GIOVANNI PARADISO offer a recipe they relish cooking, eating, and sharing.
