Rowley Jefferson's Awesome Friendly Adventure

In this book we catch up with some well-known characters. Rowley Jefferson, along with marketing genius, all round ‘know it all’ and sometime best friend Greg Heffley, are writing a bestseller story. Rowley is the creative genius who has the imagination as well as a kind and sensitive heart, while Greg is the supposed realist with too many unwanted suggestions, who envisages the money that will come pouring in from all sorts of merchandise and royalties. After a pinkie shake partnership deal, Rowley sets to work on his awesome tale. Our adventure starts when Roland and his mate Garg the Barbarian set out to save Roland’s Mum, who has been kidnapped by the White Warlock. Along the way they come across some wonderful characters, the likes of which can only come from a fertile imagination … or borrowed from history and fairytales. We meet pixies and trolls, who want to cook our heroes in a stew, as well as Medusa who wants to turn them into stone. They meet up with a one-eyed Wizard, who comes in handy when things go wrong. And they gradually put together a team that will march on to the Ice Fortress and hopefully save Mum before it is too late.  While Rowley’s adventure is often sabotaged by Greg’s suggestions and requests for a dark and dangerous story, our author pushes on with his Awesome Friendly Adventure where good will win over evil. This is another rollicking fun tale from Jeff Kinney in his Wimpy Kid series with many a chuckle and smile along the way.  Reviewed by Cathy d’Apice Age Guide 8+
