THE MAGIC OF Mohair • Dispelling its myths

TIPS AND TRICKS

Gardening SUN HAT • Enjoy the rejuvenating energy of the sun and grounding nature of your garden while protected in your own handmade creation. The simplicity of the hat leaves a blank textured canvas to be creative with your own splash of colour through the band.

Alice HANDBAG • Make a Mandala style crochet handbag featuring two semicircles and a band of braid in Aran weight cotton in six colours. The bag is lined and interfaced to give it structure and has purchased handles, and optional internal pockets.

Frosted Leaves CROCHET COWL • The design for this cowl is developed after seeing the beautiful frosty edges around an autumn leaf. Leaf shapes and colours have always caught my attention, but the added icy border was truly magical to see. The stitch pattern of this winter cowl features a leaf shaped cable design with ribbed border. To mimic the icy frost, I have used two strands of yarn, one being a lace weight mohair. The design has a cosy country look and feel and is perfect for keeping you warm on those cold frosty mornings.

Barcelona BLANKET • Inspired by the colours of Gaudi and fiesta times, Barcelona is a modern take on a traditional granny square design. The simple stitch pattern used makes for an almost meditative project. This blanket has been designed as a snuggle blanket for the sofa or over the knees on chilly evenings but would equally be at home in a child's room or even made larger with more rounds in the same pattern for a double bed spread.

Kelly the Cheeky TOADSTOOL • This cheeky toadstool was inspired by my son who took a liking to drawing toadstools. He asked if I could crochet him one. Given that he rarely asks me to crochet him anything, I jumped at the chance to design and crochet one. May he bring a little love into your life too.

Tory's Daisy CARDIGAN • This is a close-fitting crochet cardigan. It features small flower motifs and is worked in Alternating Stitch, which produces a fabric with a textured appearance. The motifs are worked first, joined and then the bodice is worked in one piece down and then up from the motifs. The sleeves are worked flat and seamed. It is finished with double crochet button bands.

Cobwebs & Dew NECK WRAP • Inspired by bursts of colour in the garden, with dew glistening on the cobwebs and flowers, this light as a feather asymmetrical wrap will warm you up on those chilly mornings without being too heavy or bulky and is a lovely tran-seasonal piece for your wardrobe.
