PassageMaker Magazine (PMM) is the market leader covering the boats, people, gear, and destinations for the trawler and cruising-under-power lifestyle. Over the years it has evolved to connect the marine industry to consumers through print, digital, online, and in-person brands (Trawler Fest, Trawler Fest University, and Trawler Port)

Ham and Egg Sandwich • This riff on a pastry sampled in Puerto Rico is a delectable, easy-to-make sammie.

Hunt Ocean 68 • The venerated builder delivers a fast, customizable, offshore-ready cruiser in a Goldilocks size.

Passing Judgment • Part 2: Understanding how your boat’s hull makes and handles a wake will make cruising more pleasant.

Smooth Cruising • Choosing the best bottom paint will keep your hull covered for whatever comes its way.

My Name is Anchor • All that time spent on a mooring or docked means your anchor and windlass have sat idle, missing the simple pleasure of a secluded anchorage.

Good Faith • Making a deposit on a trawler sets the gears in motion to an accepted or rejected offer.

NEW SPARK • A 2016 BUILD IS BORN ANEW AFTER A SON ENLISTS ZIMMERMAN MARINE TO IMPROVE HIS LATE FATHER’S LAUNCH.

ALASKA UNBOUND • One could spend a lifetime exploring Alaska’s nearly 34,000 miles of shoreline. The state’s diverse marine ecosystems offer a wealth of environments for the intrepid cruiser, from the temperate rain forests of the southeast to the icy waters farther north, ringed by the towering coastal ranges. Deep fjords line Alaska’s coast, and just about everywhere, wildlife abounds. For this issue, we found some folks returning to treasured cruising grounds and others crossing the Pacific Ocean to reach a new home in the 49th state. We hope their sojourns inspire you to take your own Alaska adventure.

TONY FLEMING hits a MILESTONE • The founder of Fleming Yachts returns to Alaska on his well-traveled 65, surpassing 71,000 nautical miles under her keel.

LUCKY DUCKS • OUR SMALL CREW FACED MASSIVE SEAS AND MYRIAD MECHANICAL ISSUES ON A HAWAII-TO-ALASKA VOYAGE ABOARD A DIESEL DUCK 462.

THE HEIGHTS OF GRANDEUR • A CHARTER UP THE INSIDE PASSAGE TO ALASKA IS AN EXPERIENCE FILLED WITH CULTURE, WILDLIFE AND MEMORIES TO LAST A LIFETIME.

NORTHWEST COAST NATIVE CULTURE

CONTEMPLATIVE COVE • A North Pacific 28 Pilothouse has Walsh Cove all to itself. The prime anchorage, on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, is ripe for exploration by dinghy, snorkeling and hiking.
