RSC and Representation • Next month, Tanika Gupta’s The Empress returns to the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) a decade after it premièred at the Swan Theatre. The show’s revival comes, in part, as a result of the Lit in Colour campaign and young people, including the RSC’s Youth Advisory Board, pushing for better representation amongst the writers and playwrights studied in school. But, says Jacqui O’Hanlon, Director of Learning and National Partnerships at the RSC, this is only one part of the solution.
