Charlee CARDI • The Charlee Cardi is a slightly cropped classic cardigan that is an absolute staple for any wardrobe. Wearability and style are ALWAYS at the forefront of my mind when designing and the Charlee Cardi is the perfect combination of both. Inspired by current trends, I wanted to create something my fellow millennials and younger generations would love, but also something timeless that all generations could enjoy. Match it with a pair of high waisted jeans, an almond latte and smashed avo on toast. The Charli Cardi design will never go out of style, so you’ll be able to enjoy it for years to come.

Spotlight on LOUISA MAGRICS

Mum and Bub COFFEES • Inspired by trips to the coffee shop with my mini me, here is a cute pair of amigurumi toys to crochet.

One Skein Tunisian WONDER • Abbeymade is a tunisian crochet specialist from Sydney, Australia who focusses on wearable items that use basic techniques in innovative ways. She has the philosophy that you don’t need to know too many ‘fancy’ stitches to make something beautiful to wear – drape, construction and yarn choice are more important. Her wearable patterns are size inclusive and include modifications to suit each maker’s preferences and body type. This shawl pattern introduces beginner makers to a simple tunisian crochet 2–stitch lace pattern with a two row repeat. The project uses only one skein of 4 ply/fingering weight yarn, so it’s perfect when you have that one beautiful skein without a specific project in mind. Because this pattern is based on percentage of yarn usage, it can be made using a heavier yarn weight and/or more yarn to create a larger shawl or wrap.

ABBEYMADE

Common CROCHET STITCHES

CROCHET – IT’S MORE THAN HOOKS AND YARNS • The art of crochet has enjoyed a recent boost in popularity – and it’s not hard to see why.

I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM! • Jennifer Santos lives in Sweden and designs – well – super cute things!

Bias BLOCKS • Emma lives in the north western suburbs of Sydney with her four sons and husband. She currently designs crochet patterns for digital release, kits and magazines. Bias Blocks uses a C2C technique (corner to corner), which means working diagonally (on the bias), ‘building’ blocks. Each block comprises 3 chains and 3 treble stitches and each row increases by one block. Row 1 is one block, Row 2 is two blocks until reaching the desired height, then the square decreases by one block each row until back to one. The way the blocks are built also creates a reversible basket weave texture. C2C is a must-have technique every crocheter should have in their repertoire.

EMMA WILKINSON

Chesna’s HOPE • I began crocheting in 2016 and started designing a year later. Growing up, I was always fascinated with my family history. My designs usually have a mix of vintage and modern as I love the look of period clothing. I love transitional yarns as well as hand dyed and am a member of the Yarnish Design Team. I am a wife and mum of three and we reside on the...
