Artist’s Tips & Hints

The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) • The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) is situated in the vibrant Perth Cultural Centre, a changeable cultural landscape which plays host to various exhibitions, events and festivals throughout the year.

The Relaxed Painter • “Painting in a relaxed enjoyable style is best for me - not worrying about the fine detail, and leaving some of the painting to the viewer’s imagination”, explains this painter.

Painting at Capertee • Capturing the beauty via plein air painting in the Capertee Valley of New South Wales.

Artist’s Hints & Tips

Colours of the Bush • The colours and tones of the bush, of flowers, insects, and creatures large and small, all live under a constant changing light spectrum that demonstrates how colour is life. For both the artist and photographer, colour is a predominate subject.

The Artistic Itch • Art has enriched my life beyond expectations and has taken me on an evolutional journey.

The Beach • This piece began as a study in painting clouds and quickly turned into a beach scene. The artist usually has an idea before she starts, but by the time she’s finished, it can be a totally different piece. “That’s what’s so exciting, I never really know what I’m going to end up with. I love this process”, she explains.

Artist’s Hints & Tips

The Travelling Artist • I’m one of those annoying artists who believe that you should do your best to research your subjects as well as possible, not just relying on someone else’s photos.

Hints and Tips

Observing & Appreciating • Landscape Painting: A way to merge my love for arts, science and nature.

Painting Ayers Rock (Uluru) • In this painting, the artist wished to show the vastness of Australia, with this massive sandstone monolith occupying a dominant position in the painting, and a big sky complementing the subject.

School’s Out • Today we meet artist Kale Miller, and visit him and his wife Lucille in their northern beaches studio.
