A Quiet Revolution • Sandile Mqadi, affectionately known as ‘Coach’, is in many ways the godfather of black surfing in KwaZulu-Natal. As the Country Director of Surfers Not Street Children, the work he does through his organisation makes an outsized contribution to the diversity and transformation of surfing in South Africa, from the grassroots all the way to the pointy edge of competitive surfing. This is his story, in his own words.
