CUT AND GLUE

Mummies • The Egyptians believed in an afterlife where they would be reborn in their original bodies. For this to happen, the body had to be preserved by mummifying it. The inner organs were removed, dried and stored in vessels called canopic jars. The heart was left behind so that it could be weighed by the afterlife. Then the body was dried with natron salt and wrapped in linen bandages.

Disney STRANGE WORLD

Growing goodness in your garden • What did you have for dinner last night? Did you eat rice with peas and carrots? Or stew on samp or porridge? Today many of our meals come in packets or tins, but not too long ago (and for many people today still!) if you want to eat something, you first need to grow it!
