Miniature Victorian wood burner in polymer clay • Wood burning stoves were first developed in the Victorian age and were the result of enclosing fireplaces so that wood or coal burned more efficiently. The earlier stoves were usually made of cast iron which was often beautifully decorated with mouldings and embellishments. This miniature version is a typical wood burning stove of the mid to late 1800’s and its design is still used today.
