Mina-San • Mina-San translates to ‘everyone’ in English, and everyone is bound to love this simple, elegant Japanese-inspired quilt. Gorgeous Japanese shot cottons and woven fabrics combine to add texture and warmth to this quick and easy quilt.

Lotus Cushion • The Japanese design concept of Notan, the harmony between dark and light, was the design inspiration behind this striking cushion. This project brings together the precision of foundation piecing, and the more casual element of raw edge appliqué – achieving a balance between dark and light, formal and casual.

Piazza • The central medallion and the pebble-shaped appliqué are reminiscent of an open piazza in an Italian town. Oh to be in Italy!

Along came a spider • The Spiderweb block is a favourite from a past issue of Homespun that was published back in 2012. Here are the instructions for you to make this fun quilt. Strip piecing on fabric foundations streamlines the fabric cutting and stitching needed to make this quilt.

Off the Shelf • Enjoy our selection of recently released books that focus on Japanese quilting, boro and sashiko

Eucalyptus and Wool Wadding

Poppins • The larger the curve, the easier it is to sew! That’s the good news! The other good news is that this quilt is quick and easy to sew and makes a great design statement. Choose your favourite colours and off you go!

Alabama Panama • This quit design is inspired by a quilt in Linda’s antique quilt collection. The block is a traditional multi-triangle block known as Thousand Pyramids (Finlay 1929), and also Joseph’s Coat. A set of acrylic templates is available, or you can make your own with template plastic.

Jennifer Corkish • Using traditional techniques and materials from the East, Jennifer stitches beautiful oriental quilts, sashiko embroidery and boro textiles, bringing Japan to her Callala Bay home studio.

Japanese Fabrics • There are many gorgeous, luscious, imperial Japanese style prints available to quiltmakers, here are just a few that are new to the Australian market.

Armchair Travels Japan

Reversible Knot Bag • The simplicity and ultimate usability of these traditional knot bags make them a joy to create and use. This is a reversible pattern to show off Boro patchwork and gorgeous fabric with elegant Sashiko stitching.

Nature's Paintbox Part 4 • You will be doing appliqué in this issue as you create 12 flower circles to be positioned over the previously pieced patchwork for this border.
