Ruby Lone Star • This striking red and white quilt has been made using English paper piecing – a portable way to tackle such a big job, and one that easily allows piecing success. This quilt is Susan’s favourite quilt, and we can see why: the red and white colour combination is one of the most popular colour combinations throughout the generations.
Coustellet Cushion • This elegant cushion utilises a number of techniques and features the traditional hexagon flower. English paper piecing techniques are used to produce the hexagon ring, appliqué to create the feature window, and a variety of hand-embroidery stitches to enhance the printed flowers. As the background and centre panel are neutral, you can easily change the colour of the flowers to suit your decor.

Robyn Shapiro • Before she turned six, Robyn Shapiro was hand- and machine-sewing bedding for her dolls. She started exploring her own patchwork techniques around the age of 12, and, at 20 she took her first class – where she learned all sorts of handy things such as nesting seams, colour value and scale of designs.
Tea Dance • The simple Nine Patch block is enhanced by fussy cutting pretty prints for many of the squares.
Lucy’s Circles • This scrappy quilt is an excellent slow stitching, portable project. The block is called Drunkard’s Path, but instead of the usual setting, this quilt shows the blocks placed so that circles are created at the centre of four blocks. This is a perfect size for a throw quilt or lap quilt for a child.
Off the Shelf • Enjoy this selection of new and recently released books on patchwork and quilting topics and techniques.
Sunrise • The block featured in this zingy quilt is an original Laura Wheeler block from the 1940s, named Dawn. Chris has reimagined it in today’s bright fabrics and decided it suits a sunrise more than a dawn.

Rosy Posy • Way back in 2011, Majella designed this lovely appliqué medallion quilt for our sister magazine, Homespun. We are delighted to share it here with our Quilters Companion readers.
