What’s happening to… • Our monthly round-up of restoration projects around the country, compiled by Pip Dunn.

Heads out of windows… right or wrong?

Sport, live music, or galas - which is it? • Are the rising costs of gala tickets value for money?

The Works! • A regular and familiar name to appear in the pages of Railways Illustrated is Arlington Fleet Group, with the company carrying out a wide variety of railway engineering at its Eastleigh Works base. Andy Coward met up with systems director John Campbell and Carl Watson, a key figure, to find out more about this thriving company.

Four days in Severn • The Severn Valley Railway enjoyed its most successful ever diesel event, with the Spring Diesel Festival featuring no fewer than 22 different locomotives operating over the heritage railway for four days in May, attracting more than 6500 passengers.

Finding his path in life • Fifty years in a job is remarkable for anyone, 50 years running your own business even more so - and 2023 has seen Pathfinder Tours’ Peter Watts clock up five decades promoting charter trains. Pip Dunn went for a day out with him to share some memories.
