The first sail of spring: FAIL! • Finally, after a long winter with very little sailing, spring is here and it’s time to return to the water!

CREEK IN A HUNDRED • My Gold Card birthday present was a weekend of precious father-daughter-boats time. Zoë and I first watched a Women’s World Cup Soccer match, then did an Up the Creek adventure in a remote upper arm of the Kaipara Harbour.

UP FOR THE CHALLENGE • Many boat manufacturers try to do it all – cater to every need under the sun with a single vessel. It’s a challenging feat, and while it can yield excellent results, this approach often involves trade-offs. That’s not Caribbean’s way.

Drumming up an anchor • Every boat, regardless of its size or purpose, should be equipped with a reliable anchoring system. This ensures safety and stability when the vessel is stationary, especially when the weather swings. It is not always practical, or sometimes even possible, to return to the marina or boat ramp when the weather turns to custard, and a good anchor may be all that stands between you and disaster.
