Greek serenity • New Greek yachtbuilder Omikron Yachts has been making ripples with its OT-60 debut model which, as we discover, combines sailing yacht design principles with motoryacht space to create a highly efficient long-range cruiser with high luxury.

TOYOTA TOWING TIPS: AT THE RAMP Practice makes perfect • We’ve all seen the insurance company’s television advert where the newbie boatie arrives at the busy boat ramp and is faced with backing his recent purchase into the water, watched on by his more experienced counterparts who seem almost willing him to fail!

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

A SMOOTH OPERATOR • The Riviera 6800 Sport Yacht made quite a splash when it premiered at Sanctuary Cove this year, so I was stoked to go aboard a bit later and take it offshore to test its mettle, reports Kevin Green

THREE IN A ROW! • Three-peat and another chapter in the history of the America’s Cup for Emirates Team New Zealand.

QUIET MOMENTS. GOOD. • Most often the magic of boating finds itself in moments that are not dramatic. Quiet moments of reflection. Just you, the boat, the breeze, the birds, the water, the clouds. TAMING THE Wild • REDHOT MARINE in Seaview, Lower Hutt, where I met up with owner and manager Simon Guard, was my destination to review a new Extreme 795 Game King.

WORK AND PLAY • “AT REDHOT MARINE WE ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT BOATS,” ENTHUSES OWNER SIMON GUARD, WHO EMPLOYS FIVE LOYAL AND HARDWORKING STAFF AT REDHOT MARINE’S WORKSHOP, RETAIL AND SHOWROOM FACILITY IN SEAVIEW, LOWER HUTT.”

The new Beneteau Oceanis 34.1 offers its new owners everything they need in a tidy package, offering plenty of features packed into a manageable-size boat.

BOAT BLING

Gettin’ jiggy with it! • Heavy metal should feature in every angler’s bag of tricks, but there’s a huge variety of jigs and jigging techniques.
