Fagin • “7th February is the 210th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens, famous Victorian author of such well known novels as, ‘Great Expectations’, ‘The Pickwick Papers’ and ‘The Old Curiosity Shop’, to name but a few. But my favourite of all his novels was ‘Oliver Twist’, first published in 1838. From this, I have chosen the colourful character of ‘Fagin’, made even more iconic in the 1960 stage and film musical ‘Oliver!’ by Lionel Bart” Louise
1950s kitchen table • “We had one of these when I was a child, although ours had a drop leaf. This is a quick but effective project and can be adapted to fit any space or era. Yellow Fablon gives it a very 1950s vibe, but dark brown painted legs and a varnished top would transform it into a Victorian table. Alternatively, paint in a deep colour, overpaint with a lighter colour, then gently sand to create a distressed, shabby chic effect for a modern interior” Moi
The Whole Kit & Caboodle: ART NOUVEAU BOOKS • If your Valentine is a book-lover… Moi Ali has the perfect gift.
