Australian Adventure Bike

Issue 26
Magazine

Our goal in ULTIMATE ADVENTURE BIKE AUSTRALIA is to appreciate everyone that’s having a crack — big or small — and enjoying whatever it is that’s an adventure to you. Hopefully, along the way we can steer you in the right direction (pun kinda intended) and bring to the fore just how much fun and how liberating adventure riding is. The adventure bike scene is one of the most vibrant across the globe and nowhere is it more relevant than in this vast sunburnt country. We were built by adventurers and the need to explore is in our blood. There’s never been a better time to do it on a motorcycle with an amazing array of machines and gear available for all. And now they’re finding freedom once again on bikes that take them back in bush and well beyond, in a less aggressive environment. Now is the time to reach those riders. Readers will be treated to the highest quality photography and journalism with bike tests and bucketlist rides leading the features. Each issue will also have dedicated ride tutorials and handy on track how to’s and will be chockas full of gear and accessories that we know this audience loves.

HONDA’S NEW CRF450 RALLY DOMINATES DAKAR

TIGER TAMERS • As the battle for top honours in the mid-size multi-cylinder ADV bike stakes heats up, Triumph has sharpened the claws of its Tiger 900 Rally Pro and is ready for quite the cat fight.

LAZARUS RIDES RED • Is the return of the Honda CRF450RL the biggest ADV comeback since Lazarus? We took a pair of the new red rippers to the Victorian high country to find out just where this latest model now fits in the dual-sport landscape.

SMALL BORE ROAR • 2024 looks set to be the year that will be remembered for the arrival of a fleet all-new small-bore ADV machines … finally! And all we can say is bring them on.

NEPAL SCRAM’D • Some 13 years ago, AAB’s Dave Darcy embarked on the ride of a lifetime from London to Sydney, of which crossing the Himalayas was an absolute highlight. All these years later he returned to Nepal to climb higher toward the sky, and he did it with three mates aboard a four-pack of Royal Enfield Scrams.

THREE AMIGOS BUST BAJA • When he’s not servicing forks and shocks, the Professor is living the dream, jetting around the globe to go trail riding with his mates. This time he’s taken off to the whooped-out wilds of the Baja peninsula of Mexico to explore as many lonely coastline trails as possible.

ARABIAN KNIGHTS • For the first two weeks of January every year, don’t even try contacting us as we’ll be absolutely engrossed in all things Dakar Rally. For it goes without saying, the Dakar just has to rank as the ultimate adventure.

DAY RAIDER • Life rolls on in the saddle of Yamaha’s Ténéré 700 World Raid. And as time goes by, there’s more we like — and some things we don’t — about the bLU cRU’s twin-cylinder ADV machine.

SHINING BRIGHT • When we want to hit some riding that does wonders for recharging the batteries, we’ll head straight to Bright on the northern edge of the Victorian high country for an absolute feast of ADV riding good times.

THE KING AND I • There was a time when legendary Cape York trail boss Roy Kunda calculated that there was a market to be had by combining luxury with adventure on a trip to the Tip. Or was there?

SURF THE EARTH • “Don’t be a Legoman.” “Do the funky chicken.” What is MD...
