Australian Adventure Bike

Issue 29
Magazine

Our goal in ULTIMATE ADVENTURE BIKE AUSTRALIA is to appreciate everyone that’s having a crack — big or small — and enjoying whatever it is that’s an adventure to you. Hopefully, along the way we can steer you in the right direction (pun kinda intended) and bring to the fore just how much fun and how liberating adventure riding is. The adventure bike scene is one of the most vibrant across the globe and nowhere is it more relevant than in this vast sunburnt country. We were built by adventurers and the need to explore is in our blood. There’s never been a better time to do it on a motorcycle with an amazing array of machines and gear available for all. And now they’re finding freedom once again on bikes that take them back in bush and well beyond, in a less aggressive environment. Now is the time to reach those riders. Readers will be treated to the highest quality photography and journalism with bike tests and bucketlist rides leading the features. Each issue will also have dedicated ride tutorials and handy on track how to’s and will be chockas full of gear and accessories that we know this audience loves.

WHITES CELEBRATES NEW HQ GRAND OPENING

BELLISSIMO • Is the Aprilia Tuareg still one of the best mid-size multi-cylinder ADV bikes on the market? Clubby lined up for a three-day ‘date’ with the latest sultry Italian supermodel on a jaunt from Melbourne to Sydney to find out.

ADVENTURE HARDER • Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you will recognise the name Chris Birch. From his start riding trials and racing enduros in New Zealand, Birchy has parlayed a motorcycle riding career that continues to take him all around the world. And along the way he’s pushed adventure riding deep into hard terrain that mere mortals would never attempt to conquer.

ADVENTURE OVERLOAD • When the Darcinator scored an invite to attend the annual ABR Festival in the UK, little could prepare him for the massive celebration of adventure riding that would greet him.

TECHNOLOGY RACE • ‘Eat, sleep, drink, live motorcycles … repeat.’ Welcome to the life of Mark Wells, global Chief of Design of Royal Enfield, who right now is overseeing arguably the most exciting times ever in the history of the Indian brand.

TET OFFENSIVE • When you’re heading back home to England to catch up with family and friends, you’d be barmy not to snare a bike for a few days and experience some of the best British sections of the famed Trans Euro Trail.

GOLDEN NUGGET • When our old mate Nugget realised he had more classic Suzuki DR650 Dakars in his shed than we’d had hot dinners, it was clear the time was ripe to make a mint one from all those clunkers. And with the help of ace restorer and tuner Glenn MacDonald, that’s precisely what he did.

ABBEY THE SWEEP • An organised adventure ride tour is sometimes only as good as the crew of sweep riders who ensure everything runs smoothly. Amongst RideADV’s posse of sweep riding pros, Abbey Chadwick is quite literally a guardian angel of the trails.

MIXED ENTREE • It’s happy days here at AAB, with a CFMOTO 450 MT joining our long-term project bike fleet. So let’s get into it this Chinese banquet and set the T-bars twirling!

CALM BEFORE THE STORM • Like a warrior primed for combat, our Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid long-termer is ready and waiting for its next tours of duty.

SAND SURFING • Last issue Miles started...
