This was the first time in the preservation era that the former Harris gallopers had been hauled by steam to an event and what a sight they made behind the Burrell, writes Simon Colbeck.

ON THE ROAD! • Following on from our two recent articles on December 1922 McLaren No. 1713 8hp road locomotive, Old Glory was invited to follow the amazing road run the engine undertook with its 30-ton load across Ashdown Forest on Wednesday 12 June.

STEAM PORTABLES BRING IN THE CROWDS • Hollycombe Steam Museum holds various themed weekends during the summer, on 1-2 June they held a steam rally at their site near Liphook on the Hants/West Sussex border This year it featured a special theme of portables and it was a big HIT! Bob Moorman reports.

DEBUTS GALORE AT HADLOW DOWN • Held in dry weather over 1-2 of June, an excellent crowd was seen at this traditional rally which supports Cancer Research UK, held at Tinkers Park, Hadlow Down, East Sussex and organised by the Claude Jessett Trust.
