BIGGEST WELLAND EVER! • This year it was good weather all the way through the 58thWelland Steam & Country Show, near Malvern, Worcestershire. It saw records broken in all quarters, at this the second largest rally of its kind in the UK these days. Simon Colbeck gives a short résumé of all that went on over 26-28 July.
GARRETT STARS AT WEETING • Weeting 2024 proved to be another superb show at Fengate Farm, Norfolk on 19-21 July with a huge crowd attending, says Simon Colbeck.
TO FRANCE AND BACK! • Jim Hatfield recalls his recent successful trip to Normandy, France over the last weekend in June with his 1930 Sentinel DG6 No. 8213 to attend the Gournay-en-Bray tractor rally at the Hippodrome du Mont-Louvet (trotting track).
VICTORIA &ALBERT • On the back of another highly successful steam show weekend at Amberley Museum another photographic day with some of the participating engines was held in the superb grounds of the fabulous museum on Monday 8 July, reports Simon Colbeck.
ORANGE STARS AT TRACTOR FEST • Billed as the biggest tractor event in the UK, there were approaching 1,500 exhibits to inspect at this year’s Tractor Fest held at Newby Hall, the 18th century country house and estate situated between Boroughbridge and Ripon, over the weekend of 8-9 June says David Reed.
B5 STARS AT REMPSTONE • The predicted showers and England football game didn’t put the crowds off from visiting one of the longest running events on the rally scene, The Great Rempstone Steam and Country show on 13-14 July, writes Simon Colbeck.
MINIATURES SHINE AT KELSALL • Kelsall produced a great selection of miniature traction engines that were well worth a look, says David Reed.
IS BACK! • The editor was invited to the Richmond Light Railway to record the dedication of one of the most famous industrial railway locomotives in Great Britain. It all took place on Saturday 6 July when 1919 Bagnall 0-4-0 Pixie ‘officially’ entered service on the railway after an extensive rebuild and well-publicised restoration.
“BEDFORD RESURRECTION” – 1944 BEDFORD OWL • Surviving Bedford OWLs, a wartime lorry produced in limited numbers for civilian operators, are extremely rare, but when a derelict example surfaced on a Norfolk farm in 2019, Bill Thorburn stepped in to save it....
