Australian Adventure Bike

Issue 14
Magazine

Our goal in ULTIMATE ADVENTURE BIKE AUSTRALIA is to appreciate everyone that’s having a crack — big or small — and enjoying whatever it is that’s an adventure to you. Hopefully, along the way we can steer you in the right direction (pun kinda intended) and bring to the fore just how much fun and how liberating adventure riding is. The adventure bike scene is one of the most vibrant across the globe and nowhere is it more relevant than in this vast sunburnt country. We were built by adventurers and the need to explore is in our blood. There’s never been a better time to do it on a motorcycle with an amazing array of machines and gear available for all. And now they’re finding freedom once again on bikes that take them back in bush and well beyond, in a less aggressive environment. Now is the time to reach those riders. Readers will be treated to the highest quality photography and journalism with bike tests and bucketlist rides leading the features. Each issue will also have dedicated ride tutorials and handy on track how to’s and will be chockas full of gear and accessories that we know this audience loves.

GREAT ESCAPES • The long and grinding days spent cooped up in a COVID-19 lockdown might now finally be behind us, which means it’s time to get out and ride. We’ve got 11 inspiring locations we’re absolutely itching to get back to.

GLOBAL ROAMING • Travelling the world by motorcycle has always been the ultimate adventure ride. But with the obvious impacts of COVID-19, will it still be worth the effort? And what does the future hold?

MISTER ADVENTURE • He might be best known as Australia’s Mr Motocross, but these days Stephen Gall gets a big slice of his off-road fix while charging down the adventure highway.

PEDAL TO THE METAL • When #lockdownlife kicked in hard, for many of us the only way to get a decent two-wheel fix was aboard a bicycle. And once we discovered electric MTBs, a whole new world of pedal-powered adventure awaited.

ROUND OZ SQUARE • Thirty-eight years ago, legendary ADB magazine staffer Murray ‘Honest Muz’ Watt took Yamaha’s then brand-new XT600ZL Ténéré and put it to the ultimate test by riding around Australia Square. During a brief break between COVID-19 lockdowns, we busted out to re-create the ride.

STROM TROOPERS • Suzuki’s V-Strom adventure bikes might be way more Clark Kent than they are Superman, but for 18 years these soft-roaders have just kept on keeping on.

UBER TOURER • Can a seven-year-old BMW R 1200 GS Adventure hold its own with the latest machinery? It can when you’ve got it set up exactly the way you want. Just ask Chris Bostelman.

KING OF THE CAPE • He’s ridden more miles than we’ve had chicken dinners,...
