PETER PAN FLIES HIGH IN NORTH YORKSHIRE PART ONE • David Reed visited Francis Corner in North Yorkshire to have a look at 1928 Fowler A9 compound road locomotive No. 20434 Peter Pan, an engine that made its rally debut last year, in this two-part story.

BIGGEST IN EUROPE! • Peter Love was kindly invited by Des Boughton to travel with him to the 42nd International FIVA Historish Festival at Panningen in southern Holland, not far from the German border. This is the largest vintage show in Europe by far these days and it was a pleasure for Peter to return to this event in post Covid times.

MARSHALL PRODUCTS SPANNING 96 YEARS CELEBRATE THE COMPANY’S 175TH ANNIVERSARY • Ian Palmer of the Marshall Club reports from the celebrations in Gainsborough.

CHICKERELL STEAM STARS • The 2023 Chickerell Steam & Vintage Show was held at Moor Farm, Knights in the Bottom, Chickerell, near Weymouth in Dorset on 1-2 July in memory of Katie “Blondie” Miller, with thanks to land owners Stephen Vine and John Hollins.

ON THE ROAD • Allan Bedford delves into his archives to bring us some scenes from a dying breed - the scrapyard.

“HUMBER’S STALWART SINGLE”–1904 HUMBERETTE 5HP • Humber may be most strongly associated with big luxury cars, but not on the Veteran Car Run, where the tiny Humberette is one of the most popular entries. Although one of the cheapest cars on sale when new, it’s also a very capable and reliable performer, as Zack Stiling discovers.

BUCYRUS-ERIE PULL-TYPE SCRAPERS • Keith Haddock reviews one of Bucyrus-Erie’s lesser-known products including its close ties with the International Harvester Company.

GIBBONS’ FAMILY TREASURES • Following the Gibbons family reunion on Saturday 8 July which we reported on last month, thanks to Trevor Wrench and the Gibbons we look at more of their amazing black and white picture collection.

A SERIES OF SPLENDID IRISH COINCIDENCES, NOW LONG AGO • Technical Editor, Derek Rayner, goes back to his steam interest pre-steam rollers and relates a series of somewhat remarkable coincidences which led to his burgeoning interest in all aspects of road steam activities. All photos by the author except where noted.

A DAY WITH HELGA • Thanks to the kindness of Bill Best and his many volunteers the editor of Old Glory was invited to fire 1936 Orenstein & Koppel...
