ANNIVERSARIES GALORE AT GCR • It was just over 50 years ago now that a group of enthusiasts got together to revive a length of the former Great Central Railway in Leicestershire; with the organisation celebrating the first train running on these rails in preservation times, it made being here at the 7-10 April Easter Vintage Festival even better. The Easter Vintage Festival is said to be in its 11th year but some of us came here decades before for a similar gathering, says the editor.

BOSTON LODGE WORKS - LOOKING TO THE FUTURE • Boston Lodge Works is probably the oldest railway workshop in the world that is still in use for its original purpose. It was developed for the Ffestiniog Railway on the site of the quarry that supplied the stone for construction of the famous Porthmadog Cob.
