RED BY NIGHT AT THE BLACK COUNTRY MUSEUM • The chance to see steam engines in the fabulous setting of the Black Country Museum under the cover of darkness was an opportunity too good to miss, writes Simon Colbeck.
NEC CLASSIC CAR & RESTORATION SHOW IS VERY POPULAR • Clarion staged the Classic Car and Restoration Show on 22-24 March at the NEC Birmingham over three days with a record crowd. Traders were very pleased with the takings, with 26,912 people coming through the doors.
BEST NATIONAL IN YEARS • The 2024 National Vintage Tractor Road Run start venue on Sunday 31 March Easter Day was the Plumpton Agricultural College, near Lewes, East Sussex, a superb modern facility.
HERITAGE SHOW MAKES IT BIG! • Back on the calendar after its cancellation in 2023, due to the ground conditions, the Saturday 6 April 2024 Heritage Transport Show at the Kent County Showground, Detling, Maidstone, Kent, faced similar problems after the incessant rain leading up to it this year too.

MINIATURES SHINE AT SHREWSBURY • Once again there was a great selection of miniature engines at the Shrewsbury Steam Rally, which took place at Onslow Park on the outskirts of the town over the August Bank Holiday weekend. David Reed reports that over 20 steamers had made the trip to Shrewsbury, duly lining up until it was their turn to parade in the ring in front of an exceptionally large crowd.
